The Institute for Skills Empowerment 149-537 NPO (ISE) is a non-profit organisation birthed by K20 SA™ to drive its corporate social investment initiatives. ISE’s principal objective is to empower youth and underserved communities in South Africa by building capacity within local NPOs, cooperatives, and community organisations.


By equipping these structures with practical skills, mentorship, and resources, ISE enables them to implement sustainable development interventions in their own communities.

ISE is a duly registered non-profit organisation with its own board and governance structure. While supported by K20 SA™, it operates independently to ensure transparency and accountability.”

ISE has four core activities i.e.


ACTIVITY 1: Skills Development – Entrepreneurship Capacity Building

How This Furthers ISE’s Objective:

By strengthening entrepreneurship skills, ISE helps young people and community organisations to create income-generating opportunities, reduce unemployment, and build sustainable local enterprises.


ACTIVITY 2: Education – Extra-Curricular Support

How This Furthers ISE’s Objective:
Extra-curricular programmes strengthen educational outcomes, improve school retention, and increase the pipeline of skilled youth entering the workforce or higher education.


ACTIVITY 3: Sports, Arts and Culture Programmes

How This Furthers ISE’s Objective:
Sports, arts and culture provide holistic youth development, foster discipline and teamwork, and offer constructive alternatives to negative social behaviours.


ACTIVITY 4: Mentorship and Supervision

How This Furthers ISE’s Objective:
Mentorship and supervision ensure that skills acquired through ISE’s programmes are applied effectively, increasing the long-term impact of interventions.
